Applications may also be obtained at The O’Connell Branch Library, Kennedy-Longfellow School, The Office of City Councilor Tim Toomey and The East End House. The deadline for the scholarship application and all supporting documentation is the tax filing deadline of each year.

Scholarships are paid directly to the institution to which the applicant has been accepted and applicants may re-apply each year.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be a resident of East Cambridge. (All ages may apply);

Must be a High School graduate or;

Must be attending or have received admittance to an accredited educational institution beyond the high school level.

Application Submission Documents

  • Completed and signed application form;

  • A most recent official transcript from student’s current school, usually provided to the student by the Registrar at the college level or by the student’s Guidance Counselor at the high school level.

  • As financial need is one of the criteria for determining scholarship awards, the applicant must submit a copy of a current IRS 1040.

Selection Process and Criteria

The Scholarship Review Committee, comprised of East Cambridge Scholarship Fund Board members, reviews and ranks each application. To ensure a completely impartial review process, Committee members do not see the name of each applicant. Each application is assessed and graded based on the applicant’s years as an East Cambridge resident, academic achievement, community engagement or extracurricular activities, and financial necessity.
